Contract Value: £983,339.98
Project: San Remo Towers is an English Heritage Grade II listed building situated on the coast of England at Boscombe, Bournemouth, Dorset.
Tendering: Salisbury Glass Centred won the contract via competitive tendering. Salisbury Glass Centre was added to the tender list on recommendation from Millar Construction from a completed project in Newcastle.
Planning: Under instruction from Jackson Builders Salisbury Glass Centre designed, manufactured and installed 3 no. windows on various elevations for the relevant planning authority to inspect. With members of the planning committee inspecting San Remo and unable to identify where the windows had been replaced, planning consent was granted to Jackson Builders for the replacement of all windows and doors.
Investment: With the complexity of detail and design required to manufacture the windows and doors, Salisbury Glass Centre invested in modern machinery required for the bending of aluminium profiles to an exceptionally high standard. Machinery demonstrations in Italy were commissioned for both Salisbury Glass Centre and Jackson representatives. With quality assured to both parties a worthy investment was granted.
Materials: With the design brief of the replacement of crittal windows and doors a composite aluminium/ PVC profiled system was commissioned.
All aluminium profiles polyester powder coated with a marine guarantee with respect to the coastal location. 60 microns film thickness of powder coat was applied to all profiles.
Program: 60 weeks
Working with Tenants: All flats at San Remo were tenanted and it was essential to work / liaise to allow progression of the programme without instructions. With our installers' natural progression from domestic replacement installations, our consideration of tenants was gratefully received.
